Science Minister seeks pacts with China on space technology

Abuja—The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Alhassan Bako Zaku has stressed the need to further collaborate with the Chinese Government in order to realise the country’s dream in space technology.

The minister said this while receiving in audience the delegation from the China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC) led by its Vice-President/CEO, Prof He Xing who paid him a courtesy call in his office.

Zaku said further that such collaboration with the Chinese Government would further strengthen the bilateral co-operation between the two countries, noting that the two countries shared similar background and commitment to develop their countries for the benefits of their people.

“China started from the background where Nigeria is starting from,” he said.

The minister, who was optimistic about the country joining the league of nations to send astronauts to the moon insisted that Nigeria would continue to consult with the Chinese authorities in order to complete the Satellite Assembly Integration Testing and Design Centre (AITC/DC) project which was embarked upon by  The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) couple of years ago.

Earlier, the Vice-President and CEO of China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC), Prof He Xing said that the team was in the country to assist Nigeria in realizing its dream in space technology.

He said further that effort was to ensure that the Satellite Assembly Integration Testing and Design Centre, currently embarked upon by the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) project is completed soon.
