KANO — The leadership of Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) has declared its preparedness to wield the big stick should Governor Ikedi Ohakim of Imo State defect to PDP.
National Chairman of the party, Chief Clement Ebri, told newsmen in Kano that although the purported move was still a subject of speculation, “when he does that, the party will be ready to do something.”
“In Nigeria, nothing is impossible. But if it does happen, our party will be ready to react but I can tell you we detest political prostitution. We believe that people should be principled and should be able to stay in till the end,” he said.
Ebri who was in Kano to commission the party’s secretariat explained that the Imo Governor had not informed the leadership of the subterranean move, adding that the attention given to the move was just an imagination.
The former of Governor of Cross River State cautioned Ohakim to have re-think on the move, stressing: “It is better to be the widow of a hero than the wife of a coward.”
On the proposed mega party, Ebri said it was not a bad idea, but cautioned on the need by those involved to tread softly in view of the complexities of such arrangement.
He explained that it was on the strength of this heightened fear that Progressive People’s Alliance was applying cautious measure, adding that the party’s reluctance is genuine attempt to avoid going into the same fold with “strange bed fellows.”
“A lot of people who are talking about the mega party lack the necessary wherewithal and in event of trial, they are off.”
