Tragedy struck in Yola Thursday when a Police constable, Usman Musa was killed by his colleague (name withheld) during a scuffle over torchlight.
According to sources at the Adamawa State Command of the Nigerian Police, the deceased and his killer were attached to the Doubeli Police Station in the State Capital.
The source revealed that the deceased and his killer were on the same night duty when the incident occurred.
The deceased, according to the source is the driver attached to the police station and were both detailed to go out together on patrol that fateful night.
The suspect was alleged to have picked the touch light of the deceased without his consent and after a long pleading of which he refused to return to the owner.
Late Usman was said to have allowed his killer to go away with the torchlight after the close of duty, but went after the killer to his house to demand for the torch light.
It was at this juncture that a physical combat ensued between the policemen. Late Usman was said to have been held in the private part by his alleged killer, which he (killer) pulled unitl Usman became unconscious.
Late Usman was rushed to the Yola Specialist Hospital, where doctors battled for two days to save his life, but to no avail.
He was said to have died of multiple injuries to his private part following a fierce continuous pulling by his alleged killer.
Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the incident. The Police Public Relations Officer. Altine Daniel (ASP) who confirmed to vanguard said the suspected killer is presently cooling in a police cell awaiting further investigations.
Altine disclosed that the incident leading to the death of constable Usman Musa was still sketchy as formal report is yet to be received from the Doubeli Divisional Police Station.
