ENUGU—Enugu State Police Command has constituted a special kidnap squad to search for a seven months old baby boy, Ebube Chukwuka, kidnapped in Enugu on Monday. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr. Ebele Amaraizu, who disclosed this in Enugu yesterday, said that the command had to detail a special intelligence group to handle the matter because of its sensitive nature.
He said that the search which commenced Tuesday, had already recorded remarkable result, adding that there were traces of the identity of the kidnappers. Little Chukwuka’s kidnappers had on Monday overpowered his nanny at gun point at their Hillview residence and snatched the baby, whom they put in a cellophane bag and fled.
The police spokesman who described the case as unfortunate, expressed confidence that there would be positive result from the search and urged members of the public to make available to the police useful information that would help unravel crime in the state.
“I will not want to speak further on this matter so that it does not jeopardize our investigations,†he said.
