LAGOS—The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), has called for a drastic reduction in the size of the Petroleum Bill, saying the bill is unnecessary voluminous.

Agbaso had sued INEC over cancellation of the April 14, 2007 governorship election in Imo State, reportedly won by Agbaso. The rescheduled election of April 28 threw up Ohakim on the platform of PPA. Agbaso’s contention is that the first election was conclusive with valid results and that INEC has no statutory powers to cancel an election that had been concluded.

The Chairman, ASUU-FUTO, Dr. R.A. Ejimofor, who disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri, said that the current strike would not have lasted this long if the Federal Government had not reneged on the agreement it reached with the union.
“It is apparent that the government is not in a haste to stabilize the university system,” Dr. Ejimofor said.
