OWERRI—THE Progressive Peoples Alliance has lauded the programmes of Governor Ikedi Ohakim of Imo State, saying this was why he has become the beautiful bride being courted by the PDP.
The party however, urged the Governor to include members of the PPA in his government.
In a statement, PPA said the policies and progammes of Ohakim has shown that other political parties can provide leadership in Imo state and indeed Nigeria other than the PDP.
In the statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Ben Onyechere, PPA said the PDP has woken up “to the reality of the growth rate of PPA, and now sees Ohakim as a threat in 2011.
“Governor Ohakim therefore needs to understand that the majority of Imo people who are PPA are feeling disappointed with his alienation of the party from government in other to please the PDP, which the Governor has allocated all appointments in his government.
“It is important to let the Governor know that there is a divine motive in the formation of PPA, one of which is to give voice to the voiceless by providing a platform, which can launch people into political limelight.
“The PPA members in Imo state are obviously running out of patience because they rightly feel that the Governor is not identifying with them, even as it is clear that they have given him an overwhelming support throughout the judicial battle to retain his seat.
There is no need for the Governor to be afraid because the political calculus in Imo today is in favour of PPA,” he said.
