MASS Housing: FCTA will not accept sub-standard houses – Aliero

MINISTER of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero warned yesterday that the administration will no longer condone low standard houses in any of the Mass Housing sites located in the Federal Capital Territory .

Giving the warning yesterday when he received the Group Managing Director of the United African Company (UAC) in his Gwarinpa I District residence, Abuja, Aliero however lamented the sub_standard houses in some of the Mass Housing project sites in the Federal Capital Territory, just as he stressed that such low quality houses built were unacceptable.

The Minister who reiterated that the administration was prepared to partner with and support any member of the Organized Private Sector to develop qualitative houses for FCT  residents of the Federal Capital Territory, stressed that government alone cannot provide basic infrastructure as well as houses for the residents of the Federal Capital Territory, but would continue to provide an enabling environment.

The Minister who challenged the UAC to take the advantage of this and partner with the FCT Administration to provide secondary and primary infrastructures in an earmarked district for the mutual benefit of all the stakeholders, said,  “The FCT Administration is now in partnership with the First Bank of Nigeria Plc to provide basic infrastructure in the whole of Katampe District of the Federal Capital City and other conglomerates are also welcome in the same vein”.

Earlier in his remarks, the Group Managing Director of the United African Company, Mr. Larry Ettah who assured the Minister of the company’s readiness to partner with the FCT Administration in the mass housing development, complained that some of their plots had problems of double allocations and in some cases encroachment by some illegal occupants which he asked the Minister to address.
