MOVEMENT for Restoration of Oyo, MRO, a non governmental organisation, reviewed, weekend, the activities of the Otunba Bayo Alao-Akala-led government in the last two years with a verdict: Below Average.
The organisation, led by Chief Bayo Aderounmu, said in a signed press release from its Abuja base that the Oyo State Government is yet to live up to the expectations of the masses, adding that Akala failed in all yardsticks in measuring performance.
Aderounmu said except the governor changes his style of leadership and re-prioritize his government agenda for the people, he may not have a second term.
Aderounmu advised Akala to take a cue from Babatunde Fashola, governor of Lagos State on how he is transforming the state so that his remaining few months in office can at least have some positive impact on the lives of the people.“ Look at the roads, from the entrance of the state, within the state, they are not motorable.
The same thing with education, the teachers, for sometime now have asked for review of the salary and welfare, nothing has been done, meanwhile he is busy celebrating birthday and wedding for his children with government funds. You cannot specifically point out one particular success of this administration, nothing.
All are in piece meal. All we are saying is that, he should improve on all that he is doing because as far as we are concerned, little or nothing his government has impacted on the lives of the people.â€
Aderounmu, a native of Ogbomosho like the governor, said it would be his joy if his kinsman returns to the Government House the second time but, according to him, he must work for it.“
