Yenagoa—Residents of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, were, yesterday, treated to a show of force by the Joint Task Force which rolled out some of its newly acquired hi-tech combat vehicles, even as the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) threatened to call off of its unilateral ceasefire.
Though nobody was harassed during the exercise, which is gradually becoming a way of life for residents, the brand new combat-ready armoured tanks, however, rode menacingly through the streets of the capital city as residents watched in fear.
A security source, who spoke to Vanguard, said the movement of the troops was a routine exercise and that there was no cause for alarm.
