Lagos StateÂ Government has concluded plans to host the 2009 Federation Cup final scheduled to begin on July 12th, 2009 even as it said it has earmarked over N6 million for all the expenses concerning entertainment.
The opening match will be between Eyimba of Aba and Sharks of Port Harcourt.
Disclosing this yesterday, the state Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Prince Ademola Adeniji-Adele, said at a press briefing that the money will be used for advertisement, security, provision of sporting kits and some side attractions that will include raffle draw at the venue will also be available at the Teslim Balogun stadium for all the football fans that will be present.
According to him, the gate of Teslim Balogun Stadium will be open as at 12 noon to admits football fans from all the 36 states of the federation who have come to watch the final.
Adele said that FA cup, changed recently to Federation Cup and the Peace Cup will further serve as an avenue to test run the facilities for the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup that will be hosted by Nigeria from October to November.
He added that Governor Babatunde Fashola will unveil the logo for the upcoming Peace Cup at the Metropolitan club on the 9th of July that will take place from the 1st – 9th, August.
Adele added that the competition will involve teams from Super Sports of South Africa, Valencia youth team of Spain and Genoa youth team of Italy. The commissioner further said that the state has made all other arrangements to ensure success of the sports fiesta.
