AS part of its support for government’s efforts in eradicating guinea worm and other water borne diseases, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, makers of Indomie Instant noodles has embarked on various water projects in several rural communities across the county.
The Indomie ‘Water project’ is a CSR initiative aimed at supporting the Millennium Development Goal to ‘halve by 2015 the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation’. The initiative features the installation of boreholes in rural communities
where sustainable access to portable water is impaired.
Speaking during the commissioning of the borehole donated by the company to some of the communities in Lagos, Tope Ashiwaju, PR Manager, Dufil Prima Foods said the advantage of a good drinkable water cannot be over stressed and as a responsible corporate citizen, Dufil Prima Foods Plc is glad to associate with government efforts in the provision of basic amenities to the people.
He stated that the lack of portable drinking water in many rural communities accounted for diseases suffered by most children and mothers in the communities which impair the overall human capital development.
“Although most states in the south-west and south east have sufficient water resources that could meet the needs of its people, portable drinking water is in short supply especially in the rural communities of the states,†he added.
