Crystal Life, Intercontinental Wapic join campaign

The on-going mass awareness campaign in the Nigerian insurance industry has received yet another boost with the recent enlistment of Intercontinental Wapic Insurance and Crystal Life Insurance.

The campaign, which deploys an integrated marketing communications strategy, is borne out of the need to address the low awareness and patronage level of insurance business in the country. It also seeks to disabuse the minds of some Nigerians on the negative perceptions and widespread misconceptions that attend the industry and its practitioners.

The Managing Director of Intercontinental Wapic Insurance Limited, Mr. Segun Balogun said his company decided to join the awareness project because of the immense benefits it would bring to Nigerians and the industry.
“At Intercontinental Wapic Insurance Limited, we believe in any form of cooperation that will benefit the industry and the society. We are convinced that the success of the campaign will restore the lost confidence of Nigerians in the industry. We are delighted to come on board the project.
“Insurance offers so much more and it is quite unfortunate that most Nigerians don’t know the benefits. The kind of risk protection that insurance offers is unique and cannot be provided elsewhere. When the unexpected happens, insurance is meant to cushion the impact and to help one back to his feet,” he said.

The Managing Director of Crystalife Assurance Limited, Mrs. Oluseyi Ifaturoti said her company found the project laudable and decided to be part of it due to the tremendous benefits its success would bring to Nigerians.
“For a long while in this country, insurance has not enjoyed the kind of patronage that it deserves. Despite the tremendous benefits that are available in the industry, Nigerian’s apathy is unbelievable. It’s only insurance that adequately carries your risk when the unexpected happens.
“It has been identified that this apathy is due to various misconceptions about the insurance business. That’s why the efforts of the Insurance Awareness Campaign are commendable. At Crystalife Assurance, we are delighted to be part of this initiative that is geared towards enlightening the nation about insurance business,” she said.

The Campaign’s Project Consultant, Mr. Kehinde Salami of Ideas House said the coming on board of Intercontinental Wapic Insurance Limited depicted the confidence reposed in the project and the impact that it would generate.
“The fact that Intercontinental Wapic Insurance Limited has joined shows that the project is heading in the right direction. If our objectives are not impressive and our impacts are not encouraging, I am sure the company would not venture to join the initiative.  We want to thank Intercontinental Wapic Insurance Limited for believing in the project. We are also calling on others to join us as we lift insurance industry higher in Nigeria and entrench the insurance culture in Nigerians,” he said.
