Count your blessings

By Pastor Johnson Omomadia

Too many people murmur and complain about what they are going through but fail to see what God has done for them. Before their eyes are their perceived desires that has not come to pass. Their situation as they see it has become the yardstick with which they measure what God can do or cannot do.

Can you imagine man equating God that created the heavens and the earth with the trait of inability to do all things that are good. The truth is that no matter how you refer to God, God is still God. Know that what is impossible with man is possible with God. There is absolutely nothing that He cannot do because there is nothing too hard for Him to do. He  is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask, think or imagine. Give Him glory always.

When you fail to count your blessings, you start to murmur and complain. Those that Murmur never enter into the promised land. They die in the wilderness. An ungrateful person can never become great. They end up as underachievers. Their potentials are never accomplished. They are hardly joyful. Listen, until you can see want God has already done for you He will not do any new thing for you.

In Ps 78:17-18&42, the Bible says, “and they sinned yet more against Him by provoking the most high in the wilderness. And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust….they remembered not His hand, nor the day when He delivered them from the enemy”. Instead of the people counting their blessings, they were counting their woes. They complained about God’s provision that was free. They never worked for it. Remember though, that while they were in Egypt they were slaves and labored with great pain to survive.

Some people are just like them today. We forget about our yesterday miracles and query God about our present situations. David said in Ps 103, “bless the Lord o my soul and all that is within me bless His holy name…… and forget not all His benefits”. David was wise enough to count all his blessings. This positioned him for greater miracles. When you count your testimony as nothing they amount to nothing. This may just account for the reason why you are not experiencing miracles. So, if you want to provoke God to manifest your miracle, you must consciously count your blessing.

Stop counting your challenges and start praising God for your victories. Prophet Isaiah, said “I will mention the loving kindness of the Lord, according to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Isreal, which He hath bestowed on them according to His mercies, and according to the multitude of His loving-kindness” (Isa. 63:7). All around you smell of the goodness of the Lord. Stop complaining  about your husband, wife, children, finances and business. Your family is a blessed family. You and your household are for signs and wonders. Do you not know that your family is not the worst.  Yes, your family is better than several families.

Listen to David in Ps 139:17-18. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, o God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I am awake, I am still with thee. This same David was anointed king at seventeen years of age but did not see the throne until he was thirty years, yet he did not complain. No matter how you look at life, count yourself blessed that you are still alive.
Beloved, challenges are stepping stones to testimonies in disguise. Some of the things that you are complaining about happened for your good. Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery and thought that was the end of Joseph. Joseph did not complain. At the end of the day, God turned around what Joseph’s brothers meant for evil to good. Start now to count your blessings one by one and it will surprise you to see what the Lord has done. Also, start to celebrate what God has already done and it wont be long before you begin to enjoy an unending breakthroughs and glorious triumph. Everything that hell and man have used to mock you will turn to testimonies. God bless you and God bless Nigeria.
