Contempt : Court adjourns Udemba, Access Bank suit till October 5

ONITSHA—A Federal High Court sitting in Awka, Anambra state, yesterday adjourned till October 5, 2009 for hearing in the contempt proceeding initiated against the Access Bank Plc Managing Director, Mr Aigboje Imoukhuede and his Deputy, Mr Herbert Wigwe by an Onitsha based industrialist and transporter, Chief Sebastine Udemba.
Udemba, the second plaintiff in the matter, had initiated the committal proceeding against the bank, Imoukhuede, Wigwe and three others for their alleged refusal to release the title deeds of one of the plaintiffs landed property since 2007, when the plaintiffs liquidated the credit facility granted him(Udemba) and his company, Chiemezie Motors Limited, as ordered by the court.
In the consolidated suits, Chiemezie Motors Limited and Chief S. C. Udemba, plaintiffs had through their counsel, Mr Ifeanyi Okumah filed the committal proceedings against Credit Lyonnais Nigeria Limited now Access bank Plc, praying the court to issue a bench warrant for the arrest of top officials of the bank for failing to appear before the court to show why they had refused to release the title deeds as ordered by the court.
