Communities in the two oil producing local government areas of Imo state, have been enjoined to safeguard all the projects sited in their respective areas by Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC).
The Acting Secretary of the Commission, Mr. Ifeanyi Nwobi, gave the charge while commissioning some projects executed by the Commission in Oguta Local Government Area.
“The Commission will not relent in impacting positively on the lives of the people of oil producing communities by providing them with more facilities. It will therefore be wrong for some people in the community to destroy or vandalize themâ€, Nwobi said.
He appealed to traditional rulers, town union executives, youth organisations and other groups to protect the facilities in their respective areas, adding that ISOPADEC attaches much premium on human capital development in oil producing communities.
Speaking also, the Head of Works Department, Tony Okanee, explained that the Commission inherited most of the projects from the 13 percent oil derivation fund committee and commended the Commission for ensuring their completion.
