Akala’s aide kidnapped, N20m ransom demanded

THE Executive Assistant to Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala on Administration, Mr. Richard Fagbemi, was kidnapped on his way from Abuja on Sunday.

He was said to have been kidnapped with two other members of his family with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of
N20million.

Before he was recalled to serve in the present administration, he retired as a permanent secretary.

A top aide of the governor, told Vanguard that Fagbemi was coming from Abuja before he lost touch with members of
his family.

He said the governor had been making frantic efforts to secure his release from the kidnappers.

He said, “It is true that he was coming from Abuja. But somewhere along the road, he lost contact with his family
members and his phone suddenly went dead.

According to him, “three of them were in the car; his sister-in-law, driver and himself. He had been
communicating with his family. After many efforts, the kidnappers called the son of the aide who is a lawyer that his father has been kidnapped.

“They allowed the son to speak with his father and told the family it has to part with N20 million to secure his
release.

“Already, the governor is making frantic effort to get him released”, he said.

A top police source who pleaded anonymity also confirmed the incident, saying the aide was kidnapped between Edo and Ondo states.
