Ilorin â€” Scare of poisonous beans has hit Ilorin, Kwara State capital as four persons have been reportedly admitted at one of the private hospitals in Ilorin, weekend, for allegedly eating beans meal suspected to be poisonous.
Meanwhile, the state Ministry of Health has taken the cassava flour suspected to be poisonous that had killed six persons two weeks ago for laboratory test.
The state Commissioner for Health, Mrs. Ayinke Saka, who spoke with newsmen, weekend, said the development would assist the ministry to know the extent of the chemical component of the poisonous flour.
Report had it that one of the two families in Baruten Local Government Area of the state which were at logger heads over a parcel of land allegedly poisoned the cassava flour of the other family spread on the bare floor in front of the house.
Another family was said to have eaten some beans on Saturday night which landed them at the hospital.
Source close to the family told newsmen in Ilorin yesterday that after eating the beans, one of them was said to have complained of stomach ache while others made similar complaints.
The development later became complicated as the victims started vomiting blood before they were rushed to the nearby private hospital.
Contacted, officials of the private hospital who craved anomymity said the patients were responding to treatment.
