2011: Agukwe slams Udenwa/Araraume alliance
By Chidi Nkwopara
OWERRI—The recent political alliance between the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Chief Achike Udenwa, and his arch rival, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume has been described as “a marriage, desperately contracted in Abuja for convenience, relevance and survivalâ€.
The Director General (DG) of New Face Organisation (NFO), Chief Elvis Agukwe, who stated this in a chat with Vanguard in Owerri, said that Imo people were not losing sleep over the alliance.
“As far as we are concerned, the latest political alliance between the former Imo State Governor and Chief Araraume is nothing to worry about. It has no political relevance in the state. We only see it as something that began and will end in Abujaâ€, Agukwe said.
The NFO-DG was of the view that instead of politically strengthening Udenwa and Araraume, the alliance has boomeranged, as some of their politically conscious followers, have since abandoned them and taken refuge in NFO, the political organisation of Governor Ikedi Ohakim.
