Ikpeba who was speaking on a television programme packaged by Brila group, said it was important for the player to be in the team that will file out for the mundial.

He said, “They need Beni in the attack because of his skills and experience in the game. The World Cup is a big stage and you need your best players to excel at that level.

“I don’t understand the problem between him and the South Africa Football Federation but it is clear that the country needs him so I expect them to settle the issue before the World Cup.”

He described Super Eagles’ Seyi Olofinjana as the pillar of the current team.During the programme titled ‘Countdown to 2010,’ Ikpeba, who was a co-presenter with Brila Chief Executive Officer, Larry Izamoje, argued that Olofinjana was a good ball winner and an asset to the team.

He said, “He is very strong and he runs all over the place from the beginning to the end of the game without getting tired.

“It is only technical people that can appreciate such player. He is doing so much to help the team and I believe the coaches know this too.”
