This is not meant to be so. He has been allegedly accused for statutory rape and as such he should be made to face the consequences. Where the victim herself is no doubt going to suffer an emotional injury how much more the pedophile. But the next thing is to set him loose into the streets all in the name of social ties. If I were the victim’s father and the perpetrator my brother, i wouldn’t think twice before having him arrested. It hurts so to see injustice have a great time.

The Nigerian Legal System owes a duty of care to this unfortunate young girl and every other girl and boy child of Nigeria. It’s in the hands of the Judiciary to ensure that appropriate punitive measures are expediently and publicly meted out to the perpetrator as a deterrant to other criminally inclined people like him before we begin to compete with South Africa’s increasing statistics.
A few years ago, a Malawian refugee in the UK, Feston Konzani, was convicted for a similar act when he went on an infection spree – inflicting biological grevious bodily harm. I pray the lawyers involved would look into this case as the necessary Common Law precedent with which to prosecute appropriately.
I hope that enough support can be offered to help the young girl and her family.
