LAGOS — A road accident involving five vehicles occurred yesterday along the Apapa/Oshodi expressway, with the fate of those injured yet-to-be ascertained. The incident, attributed to a failed section along the major expressway, occurred at about 4pm.
Eye witnesses said two 20 footer containers which were on a truck that was moving inward Oshodi suddenly fell off while the driver tried to manoeuver his way in a flooded failed section immediately after descending the Mile Two bridge.
The containers were said to have fallen on two vehicles — a Honda Civil and a Toyota Camry. Fortunately for occupants of the vehicles, they reportedly fled for dear life on noticing the containers falling. In the process, a Nissan BlueBird car which tried to avoid being trapped by the falling containers, bashed two vehicles.
About nine commuters who attempted to escape were reportedly hit by motorists who were also in the bid to avoid being victims. They were immediately rushed to an undisclosed hospital
The incident caused a hitch in the already tensed traffic situation along the expressway, as vehicles were at a stand still position right from the scene of the incident to Liverpool.
