I think these wont be only jailed but they must pay back the money. the flagbearers of the pat administration must also share the same penalty with them. this is highly irresponsible and they must pay for the collapse of our banking system.

We have to wait before we start praising the senate because this people are not jailed yet and their is no reason for anybody to believe that this people will ever be made to pay for this crime. This is Nigeria, and curruption is so perversive that a lot of people do not understand any other way of doing things.

Should the police wait for a go-ahead order before they arrest these people? In other countries they would have been in prison since over eight years now. I can bet you with me life, nothing will happen to any of them.

Please tell those in authority that recently, a man was sentenced to 150 years imprisonment in America for fraud related offences. Let Nigeria and Nigerians begin to copy America and Americans pretty well. They must not copy America's bad side alone such as legislators ocassional stage-combat. Those who were behind the collapse of our banks must be jailed for more than 150 years.Thank you.

There is a lot of ignorance of the situation. No economic crime has been committed so the EFCC has to say or jurisdiction in this matter.

The worrying thing though is that the bank should have taken steps to recover sums borrowed in accordance with the loan agreement. There must have been security deposited and if none, the question needs to be asked as to what criteria was used in giving such a large loan unsecured.

In reality, it is because these people failed to pay sums owed to these banks that the collapsed. They caused other Nigerians to lose their money as the NDIC which is set up to guarantee deposits does not know it’s left from right. Can anybody tell me who has been paid money stuck in a failed bank? This cannot give any investor confidence in our banking system and a banking system that is not secure, cannot give loans long term. There is the reason why Nigeria will not make progress as most economies are built on common individuals being able to secure loans and invest.

The fat cats have collected loans and are playing the dumb card by saying they did not know they owed? What impudence and gross stupidity. What happens to the interest that has been accruing? Why were these people not sent regular bank statements showing that they were owing? Our banking system is indeed in shambles and I wonder whether this can lead to some reform in the system.

We need to really think long and hard how we want to run this country called Nigeria otherwise there may be no country when we descend to total anarchy. Somalia is a pointer.

I TOOK A WORKING CAPITAL LOAN OF 500,000 NAIRA ONLY FROM WEMA BANK TO SUPPLEMENT THE 3MILLION NAIRA I HAD FOR MY PLASTIC MANUFACTURING BUSINESS. I USED MY ONLY HOUSE AS COLLATERAL. THE BUSINESS FAILED DUE TO EPILEPTIC POWER SUPPLY. WEMA BANK TOOK MY HOUSE AND AUCTIONED IT. I BECAME INCAPACITATED AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY PARALYSED. I SOLD THE MACHINES WHEN I WAS DYING OF HUNGER. MY PERSONAL MONEY IS STILL TRAPPED AT ALLIED BANK (OBA AKRAN AVENUE BRANCH) TILL TODAY. I EMMIGRATED AWAY AND OUT OF MY LAND OF BIRTH BECAUSE OF SHAME AND IGNOMINY. IRONICALLY, SOME NIGERIANS JUST LIKE MYSELF TOOK BILLIONS, PAID BACK NOTHING, AND LOST NOTHING PERSONAL. WHAT A NATION! WHAT A PEOPLE!! WHAT A DESTINY!!!

SO THOSE WHO ARE MAKING EFFORT TO NOW PAY THE MONIES THEY DEFRAUDED THE FAILED BANKS WOULDN'T HAVE DONE SO IF THEIR NAMES WHERE NOT PUBLISHED? NO EXCUSE IS ACCEPTED THEY SHOULD BE MADE TO PAY THE LAST KOBO. AND THEN THE BANK OFFICIALS WHO AIDED THEM SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO BOOK. IT IS HIGH TIME THE WAR AGAINST CORRUPTION WAS CARRIED OUT TO THE FULLEST. I WONDER WHAT EFCC AND ICPC ARE DOING, NOTHING TO SHOW YET THAT THEY ARE ALIVE DOING ANYTING IN THIS PRESENT GOVERNMENT. JUST MAKE NOISE HERE AND THERE WITHOUT ANY CONCRETE DELIVERABLE. IF YAR DUA CANT DEAL WITH CORRUPTION AND CORRUPT PEOPLE THEN HE SHOULD KNOW THAT HE HAS FAILED TOO AS A PRESIDENT AND SHOULDN'T CONTEXT A SECOND TENOR.

where is Aandooka or whatever they call him, as the chief law officer of the federation which you always claim anytime NUHU RIBADU case comes up, will you keep quiet this time and pretend not to know what is happening? is it not time to talk to your sister Farida Waziri to step up action and show Nigerians that YAR DUA rule of law is not a camouflage?

i think enough is enough. you only have less 24 months to get out of that place, let nigerians decide who will truly rule them.

MR COLLINS, or what did you called your name, I want to assure you that it is only an insane or saddist that can say what you have said. Without banks, a country cannot exist and prosper....so by mere emptying your ill-gotten ideas that we don't have banks but casinos, you are definitely castigating your country's financial institutions. Mind you, banks do not deny their customers the money they deposited at any moment they intend to withdraw nor refuse to give them credit facility through a laid down procedure. So, if you were denied given N1,000,000.00 by any bank, that means you did not meet up to their requirements. Again, mind you paying high salary to bank's staff is not done in ignorance as you cannot give custody of billions of Naira to people who are not well-fed. I hope you would have a good thinking to reason in this direction.

It's shocking to note that bizarre things now happen in this country on routine basis. By now, I had expected some resignations from both private and public office by those involved in this shameful and heinous act. Returning money is not the issue now, but has anybody deemed it necessary to think of the social dislocation this issue has caused? Many deaths may have occurred, marriages broken, induced health issues, loss of confidence, children thrown out of schools and many maladies too numerous to mention. These are the real issues and not the monitary value involved. All the people fingered (the real guilty ones) must as a matter of utmost urgency refund money owed. Prosecution of people involved is another kettle of fish. I don't have the confidence that will ever happen talkless of jailing whoever that is found guilty. Commendation must go to the senate committee for making this known to the public. To CBN and NDIC, this is the time to wield the big stick!

Majority of them are board members to the failed bank, while another great number of them have taken huge amounts of loan to service their outrageously flambouyant lifestyles and political ambitions....

We hope that the CBN governor and NDIC Managing Director will come to the senate and reconcile thier accounts as for the indebtedness of the Bank directors and customers. The regulatory bodies need to put in place mechanism that will ensure that Directors do not abuse the privilege they have by defrauding innocent customers.
