FORMER chief whip of the Senate, Senator Rowland Owie, says it will be completely out of place for the Federal Government to build the proposed Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) in Kaduna now that the nation is experiencing a serious crisis in the Niger Delta.
He, therefore, wants President Umaru Yar’Adua not to give his blessing to the project, which, according to him, is being proposed by members of his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He said: “Nobody is against the development of other parts of the country but what the planned building of PTI in Kaduna at this crucial time considering what is happening in the Niger Delta shows that there is a strong fifth columnist in Yar’Adua government that wants the government to commit suicide.
There is a Bini parable which says a man should first pay the woman’s dowry before doing Christmas for in-laws.
How can the Federal Government start doing charity in Kaduna with the so-called PTI when she has not paid due tax to the people of Niger Delta?
For ten years running, the PDP controlled Federal Government could not repair East-West Road or construct Koko-Ogheye Road, Agbor-Sakpoba-Ogharefe Road, Kolo-Nembe Road.
“These three roads were started by Alhaji Shehu Shagari’s administration in 1979. How can a government that gave a whole Niger Delta Ministry N47 billion be bold enough to start talking about PTI in Kaduna, when the PTI in Warri is decaying?
When the three technical colleges promised by Obasanjo to be built in Niger Delta never took off drawing board?”

If federal goverment can drill oil with armed soldiers on guard, why can’t they develope the area same way they are collecting the oil.
This issue of contrctor staff with meagre pay and sometimes better qualification is also rampant in government owned NNPC. How come most people from a section of the country are the permanent staff in a so called one Nigeria? and people expect progress while oppressing others. There cannot be peace where injustice reigns supreme. The time to determine the national question is Now! Thank you MEND for bringing to the front burners these issues and never relent until justice is done to the niger delta cause!
The Northernisation of Nigeria: ALHAJI Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, Nigeria’s President and commander-in- chief may have succeeded in fooling Nigerians and the world with his much-vaunted seven point-agenda. A critical or even cursory look at the two-year old administration would reveal that Yar’adua has only a one point agendum, which is the northernisation of Nigeria. Yar’ Adua’s neo-jihadist agendum which is aimed at turning other Nigerians into second class citizens began quite insidiously, but now it is full blown.

if there is a way MEND can wipe out Shell from the region we the Shell contractor’s staff we’ll be very happy cos this company have enslave us so much our useful time has been wasted over the years paying us meager salary we don’t have condition of service while other companies like Chevron,Agip,Total and Exxon Mobil have good conditions for their contractor’s staff even non of them pay salary as low as Shell (SPDC) which always cut cost, cutting contractor’s staff life short.A system where people are working in the same place some are living in heaven while some are in hell that is what Shell is in the niger delta for those of you who don’t know what we’re passing through here. The least Shell staff is paid not less than N700.000 while contractor’s staff who is doing real job is paid N30.000,recently they gave their staff N1.8m for generator,N600.000 for maintenance and contractor’s staffs who are expose to hazards are given nothing so how do you feel working in the same place with this kind of injustice? even if you have a house help who take care of your kids and you go to the market to buy things for your kids you’ll still buy for the house help eh. if MEND can get in touch with any of the contractor’s staff in Shell I am sure we’ll give assistance to you on how to bring this company down we know their weak point not only pipeline,if you can provide us with timing bombs we assure you few weeks this company will cry out sure,we have technicians, engineers who are capable of this ok and no life will be lost regard to this we’re insider.

The North is insensitive to Nigeria’s Unity. Their attitude is they call the shots. period. And I won’t be surprised if they went ahead to set up PTI in Kaduna. Who knows their plan after the amnesty greek gift fails. MEND should step up the campaign.
