FORMER chief whip of the Senate, Senator Rowland Owie, says it will be completely out of place for the Federal Government to build the proposed Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) in Kaduna now that the nation is experiencing a serious crisis in the Niger Delta.
He, therefore, wants President Umaru Yar’Adua not to give his blessing to the project, which, according to him, is being proposed by members of his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He said: “Nobody is against the development of other parts of the country but what the planned building of PTI in Kaduna at this crucial time considering what is happening in the Niger Delta shows that there is a strong fifth columnist in Yar’Adua government that wants the government to commit suicide.
There is a Bini parable which says a man should first pay the woman’s dowry before doing Christmas for in-laws.
How can the Federal Government start doing charity in Kaduna with the so-called PTI when she has not paid due tax to the people of Niger Delta?
For ten years running, the PDP controlled Federal Government could not repair East-West Road or construct Koko-Ogheye Road, Agbor-Sakpoba-Ogharefe Road, Kolo-Nembe Road.
“These three roads were started by Alhaji Shehu Shagari’s administration in 1979. How can a government that gave a whole Niger Delta Ministry N47 billion be bold enough to start talking about PTI in Kaduna, when the PTI in Warri is decaying?
When the three technical colleges promised by Obasanjo to be built in Niger Delta never took off drawing board?”

president, please for the interest of volatile niger delta condition, have a rethink
It is now crystal clear that Yar’ Adua government policies is design to hurt the sensitivities of the Niger Delta so that the massive blood letting can continue. What is the morale about building a petroleum training institute in Kaduna when there is a quarel about how the oil wealth have been spend. One thing is certain, he’s gravitating towards selfdestruction and should listen to wise counsel like Owie’s.
I thank the lord 4 the life of senator Owie, he had the guts to say what others has refused to say all these while. Untill the southern representatives speak louder and stronger in the senate, we will remain second class Nigerians. Will some body pls tell why we have a federal status in Nigeria and yet operates on central government?
If the southern people refuse to demand there right boldly then, they will be dennied aggressively. period!!
Oil refinary was located in Kaduna, another move now to establish PTI in Kaduna. For God’s sake what are the northerners telling us?
Owie is a qualified Senator and people Rep! may his time be long in substainning the noble task of deffending the course of his electorate aspirations, through available legislation!
its futile in excercize of power & might, to lavishly invest on a wife to-be inlaw family members without first and foremost, making payment of dowery of subject matter-wife to her available parent or Guardian !
A lizard- like yardua may never return from his ‘lost in the bush/creek of NigerDelta that form basis and establishment Aso-Rock, abuja and environes!
Our expected Hurricane Moses will be finally brought to realization by the in-comming Hurricane Josua that is expected to settle and aportion individual NigerDelta territorial freedom of inheritance!
This is the will of Egbe-esu and Jehoviah- God of Humanity!
