I think Chief Attah spoke the minds of many Nigerians. I careless about his service under late Abacha after all, those who served with him are now our today’s lawmakers. Ask town crier Chukwumereje if that is correct. What should agitate our minds is the import of Chief David Attah’s commentary. Is Nigeria drifting? To me, that is a more pOLITE way of lensing our Nation, he should have said Nigeria is a failed country but how many are able to read between the lines?.

Nigerians have never seen themselves as one entity. Everybody talks about it, and most probably want it to be. The elders of the various groups, tribes, or whatever entity they belong to do not trust anyone that is not within.Nigerian leaders from the beginning never identitfy lack of trust within as a major problem in nation building. The smart ones use the fifferences to gain advantage, and it comes back to hunt them.
President Obama is going to Ghana, because, Ghana from the beginning emphasisizes on the nation first, no matter which tribe others come from. As a matter of fact, past political leaders in Nigeria whent to Ghana for political orientation. Some of our present leaders were smuggled out to Ghana and then sent to Moscow to study.
Nigerian ethinic groups do not trust one another, and you can not go any where with that.At the moment Nigeria exists only in name and not in spirit, you do not build a nation based on indininization no matter how expidient it might be.We have brilliant people just like any other group in the world, the question is, of what value?

As far as i'm concern, chief Attah is part of the Nigeria problem and whatever he says at the minute does not hold water. David is a politician and i have learnt that each time a politician goes out of relevance, they result to criticism to seek for cheap popularity and probably attract attention.
though, he had a good analytical and sound sense of judgements but without a good corresponding moral integrity to apportion blame. with the benefits of hindsight, the corporate image of nigerians today is at the lowest ebb courtesy of bad leader which david is part and parcel of.

THE REPORT OF AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL ON NIGER DELTA, IS THE TURTH, THE WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH. ANY PERSON WHO FAULTS THIS IMPECCABLE REPORT IS NOT ONLY ECCONOMICAL WITH THE TRUTH BUT IS IN ANOTHER PLANET AND IN CLOUD-CUCKOO-LAND. THE NIGERIAN AUTHORITY KNOWS THAT AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL IS AN IMPARTIAL BODY AND THEY PERFORM THEIR DUTY WITHOUT BLEMISH. IF IT WAS POSSILE FOR NIGERIA TO INFLUENCE THEM WITH THE USAUL GHANA MUST GO BAG, TYEY COULD HAVE DONE SO. AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL IS A HIGHLY RESPECTED INTERNATIONAL IMPARTIAL ORGANIZATION. NIGERIA AND THE OIL COMPANIES MUST BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. NIGERIA SHOULD INTRODUCE A WINDFAL TAX ON THESE OIL COMPANIES TO CLAW BACK THE HUGE PROFITS THEY HAVE MADE OVER THE PERIOD. NIGERIA MUST ASK THE OIL COMPANIES TO CLEAN THE MESS THEY CREATED AND PENALISE THEM PUNITIVELY FOR THE MESS. THE MONEY FROM THE WINDFALL TAX, EXCESS CRUDE AND 30% OF OUR EXTERNAL RESERVE SHOULD BE USED IMMEDIATELY FOR THE DEVELOPEMENT OF NIGER DELTA

MR. PRESIDENT YOU ARE NOT LISTENING. YOU SHOULD USE NIGER DELTA MONEY TO DEVELOPE THE NIGER DELTA IMMEDIATELY. ABUJA AND ENVIRONS WERE RAPIDLY DEVELOPED WITH THE MONEY FROM THE NIGER DELTA. THE SAME INTEREST AND SPEED THAT WAS USED TO DEVELOPE ABUJA SHOULD BE USED TO DEVELOPE THE NIGER DELTA. THIS WILL BE A WIN WIN FOR NIGERIA. THE CRISES WILL STOP, INVESTMENTS WILL RUSH IN, THE YOUTHS WILL BE GAINFULLY EMPLOYED, NIGERIA WILL MAXIMISE HER CRUDE OIL AND GAS PRODUCTIONS,TOURISM WILL FLORISH, NIGERIAN INTELLECTUALS AND BUSINESS PEOPLE ABROAD WILL COME BACK TO NIGERIA AND CREATE A LOT OF JOBS. AS LITTLE AS 100,000.00 (ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND) POUNDS COULD ESTABLISH A SMALL COTTAGE INDUSTRY OF A SMALL FARM AND ABOUT SIX WELL PAID JOBS CAN BE CREATED. BY SIMPLE CALCULATION, ABOUT ONE MILLION NIGERIANS ABROAD CAN RAISE THIS TYPE OF MONEY. THAT IS ABOUT SIX MILLION NEW JOBS. MR. PRESIDENT LISTEN! LISTEN!! LISTEN!!! LISTEN!!!. TIME IS NOT ON OUR SIDE AND YOUR SIDE MAKE HASTE NOW!!!!!

Chief Attah, thank you for your courage in pointing out the truth. They said Abacha stole billions from the little that came into the govt coffers. He nevertheless rebuilt our roads and hospitals and supplied genuine medecines. Compare him to OBJ and you can easily conclude that Abacha was a saint. Who will ever find the value of OBJ and his family, inlaws and cronies stole from the oil revenue that average $80 per barrel for 8 years? Abacha should no longer be the issue. How do we compare with Ghana, Benin etc who can conduct credible elections against our sleeping giant that messes up at all fronts?
You have said it all, the truth is often bitter1

Chief Attah Sir, It's rather unfortunate that you said so many things that are unexpalnable, you said that Late Abacha stabilized the system, which system? created PTF and all worthnot for what purpose, to re-direct where funds should go into his personal bank account? Why not admit that he failed and u also failed. Call a spade a spade. What we're seeing today at the Local Govt Council level now is a re-incarnation of Abach's regime.

The peace that Mr David Attah allude to while in retirement, in his interview with Emma Ujah of the Vanguard Newpaper, will continue to be the peace of the grave yard.
History and posterity will never forgive or look kindly on him, as he and his master, Abacha, stole, raped and maimed Nigerians for their selfish gains.
He may try to rewrite history and aim at deceiving some gullible Nigerians. Unfortunately for him the history books have catalogued their evil deeds, and as he is about to enter his grave, his connivance with those who have raped Nigeria will constantly be exposed in all mountain top of this abused country.
He should keep quite and enjoy his stolen wealth.

How nice to know that Chief David Attah is still living. I agree with him totally because he has the experience and good judgement to know better. To Abacha's eternal credit, no coup plotter was executed during his tenure. Compared to the corruption of current governments, Abacha could be considered an achiever and on a personal note, I praise Abacha for the courage to create Kogi state while Babangida chicken out in creating. Our problems in Nigerian is short memory and failure to appreciate others especially when they are not from the same kit and kins as ourself.
Thank you chief Attah

You cannot award a passmark to Abacha's regime just because the present or subsequent regimes are purportedly worse. The fact remains that his regime failed, stole money, there were insecurity, lack of freedom, insincerity, etc. Worst of all he attempted to perpetuate himself in power. Ignoble, to say the least.

We really are drifting as a nation and all hands must be on deck to reverse the situation. Blaming the leaders alone will not solve the problem, afterall the led of today are the leaders of tomorrow. If the led do not change now they will not change when they become the leaders.

Abacha did a lot ofcourse despite his little failures. There is no perfection in life anyway. Being a military is always a military!

Nigerians should recal the good works of PTF under Abacha, the building of housing estates for civil servants (GWARIMPA for example) and many other developmental projects. The stable value of Naira in the global market and inflation rate was controlled effectively during Abacha's tenure.

Compared to what is happening now, think Abacha's tenure deserves a pass mark.

I am suprised that atta or wot do they call the idiot failed to defend the killing of Ken saro Wiwa by their govt. attah is finished, he is only looking for relevance, though yar'adua has not done anything since he got to office but we have not experienced explosion of bombs stage managed by the state, no detention of innocent citizens without trial, no fathom coup, there is a relative peace in the land. May we never again have another abacha experience in this country.
