This is very timely. The CEO of Zenith Bank, Mr. Jim Ovia, spoke at the closing ceremony of the seventh Certiport 2009 worldwide Microsoft Office competition in Lagos, and emphasized that youth need to learn digital literacy if they want to compete in the global economy. I work for a company that represents Certiport, and they are doing a ton to improve digital literacy around the world. You can read the article here: http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=148090

much as i would like to go on about bringing a to z tech to Nigeria, one has to be aware of the factors mitigating against it. power supply can't be guaranteed in our country, government policies change like one changes underwear- according to the whim of who is in control-and to be true to ourselves Nigerian universities don't are almost not capable of bringing anything to the table. OMATEK never claims to be a manufacturer of computers but an assembler.the cost of doing any business in Nigeria is the underlying factor for high prices. ooh and everyone(Hp,Dell,Apple etc) buys components from Asia

Well, I think we should celebrate this development if actually the information in this report is true.
Secondly. I'll encourage Nigerians to buy the product, provided the
price is reasonable and it's not made in China.

I don't think there is any company that manufactures computer in Nigeria. However, it is good to know that OMATEK has been assembling computers and configuring them accordingly for users in Nigeria and other african countries. Of course, However, if OMATEK does manufacture PC components in Nigeria, it is great for the country.

While I a praise the entepreneiural spirit behind such companies as Omatek and Zinox, I think it makes us as a country look ridiculous when such claims are made, there is no rocket science involved in assembling PCs, and Omatek certainly does not have the patent on small form factor or hand-held PCs, they have been around for at least 5 years. May be the law-makers need to establish a truth in advertising law that protects Nigerians from the numerous false claims by such companies. Talk about rebranding, Omatek is surely ahead of the game.........

Much as one would like to hail the advent of this gizmo, pricing should be within the resources of the general public. It is the only means we can introduce computer literacy in Africa.

I don't know where Prince Osuagwu-The journalist , sourced his information from, I don't know if he cared to varify his information before misinforming the public, but I know that the Aluetia E2 Micro pc is the smallest in the market measuring(4.5″ x 4.5″ x 1.0″) Width x Depth x Height. You can confirm this on http://www.aleutia.com/products/e2-pocket-desktop. This is bad Journalism!
