KADUNA — The Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Dr Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, has defended the slow pace of President Umaru Yar’Adua’s administration, saying the President is not a miracle worker.
Usman said the problems in the country were too complicated and multifaceted for Yar’Adua to solve in two years of his administration and urged Nigerians to support him.
He spoke on a British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Hausa Service interview monitored in Kaduna, yesterday.
“The average Nigerian will always want things to happen miraculously, it is like the damage done in the past have been forgotten.
“Now that Umaru came and spent only two years, they are saying he could not make a repair, which is not possible.
“For the President to read and know from where to start, that alone can take him two years; not to talk of repairs, just to sit down and know from where to start, and everyday they will be saying Umaru is slow; Umaru this, Umaru that.
“Do they (Nigerians) want things to happen like miracle? Only Allah (God) has that power, he says be and it becomes. No one has that power except Allah.
“One major problem of Nigeria is power, that alone is an enormous task for Umaru, I swear. How many years will it take to remedy the problem of NEPA (Power Holding Company of Nigeria)?
Look at the money sank (into NEPA), look at the billions wasted during former President Olusegun Obansajo’s regime. Did the power situation improve?
“Those billions wasted in NEPA, if it was shared amongst every household in Nigeria, each family will be a millionaire family. But a few people stole the money. Is it proper to now blame someone else?” he said.
The emir stressed that Nigeria would not improved “unless Nigerians cleansed their hearts because even if one was contesting to be a councillor, the prime motive would be for selfish reasons and not for the general good.”
All these comments are rather balderash, thrash or a mirage. How on earth do u compare Obama and America with Yaradu’a and Nigeria? What are the justifications?
Someone is down there saying because there will always be oil money, even b4 your great grand father was born, there were emirs in this part of the country. So oil or no oil, we would continue to have and respect our emirs. Our emirs are not artificial like your so called Obas and Chiefs and they do not either partake in naked oath taking activities or feeding of hostages.
If those that were at the mantle for eight years could hardly impact any positive change, i wonder how in just two years you are quick at Yaradua’s throat. Some one talking of Yaradua visiting India, China, America etc, what were the gain we derived during Obj’s globe trotting, Third term?

Mr Emir or whatever your name is it seems to me that you Housa/Fulani people are so stupid that you probably do not understand how the world works when it comes to politics. President Obama has being in office for about 6 months and he has accomplished more than what Umaru have done if any for the two years he has been in Office. President Obama has intruduced more than 15 legislations/laws and has promoted them around the country and 5 has passed and he has signed them into law. President Obama has instutided about 10 reforms everything from banking, Immigration, Health acre and many more. Just go to White House website and look at his schedule this week. President Obama has traveled to more than 10 countries to promote American businesses. What has President Yaradua done since becoming president. He has visited Saudi Arabian two times for religious reasons paid for by Nigerian people. the only thing Yarardua cares about is his religious believes. Saudi Arabian is not an important country economically to Nigeria so why is President Yaradua spends so much time dealing with a country that contributes next to nothing to Nigerian economic well being?. instead of president Yaradua visit India, China, America, Europe, and Asia those are the countries that can help Nigeria develop and create jobs. I guess because Hous/Fulani people do care about working or going to school because there is always oil money for Sultan and Emirs because they all believe that iol money and land belong to Nigeria particularly Housa/Fulani people. The North (Hosa/Fulani contribute next to nothing to Nigeria economically, educationally, sports or any thing to Nigeria
I expected nothing less from Mr Emir.You can’t expect a primary school pupil to understand calculus neither would you expect a child to stone his father at the market place.This is just one more pointer to the fact that most of these traditional rulers are hopeless outdated.

I WILL NOT WASTE MY PRECIOUS TIME WRITING ABOUT UNSERIOUS,VISIONLESS PEOPLE. I PITY SOME PEOPLE WHO STILL BELIEVES IN THIS ENTITY CALLED NIGERIA.BUT I HAVE ONE WORD NOTHING GOOD,POSITIVE WILL COME OUT OF THIS COUNTRY ONCE HAUSA PEOPLE ARE IN POWER. THEY LACK FOCUS AND DIRECTION.
Even Obama cant solve the problem of Nigeria in Two years. Yes Yaradua is slow but it is better he take his time and do the right thing than keep awarding contracts that will not be implemented or awarding contracts to ghost companies. Lets Nigerians be patient so that we can access his performance @’the end of his tenure. If not satisfied we vote for someone else. Reconstruction of Nigeria will take more than Two years of great commitment.

Even as Gov of Katsina, Umaru enriched only a few cronies, after years of gathering money, and doing nothing. SAME STYLE.

Imagine, what an Emir is saying Umaru can’t use 2years to transform Nigeria for good. Is Obama a magician or Jacob Zuma a miraculist. This people have changed the lives of their respective countries in such a short period. I think emir is looking for a political appointment. Mr. P give him one so that more praises we follow.
