Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Anayo Nnebe and other officials of the State government are expected to grace a summit on armed robbery and kidnaping slated for the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) tomorrow.
The objective of the summit, according to the organisers, is to raise the consciousness of Ndi-Anambra as well as assist the Anambra State government in the fight against violent crime in the state by offering solutions and passing same to the government for implementation.
The summit would feature discussions on kidnap, armed robbery and communication as a means of preventing and combating crime. Representatives of banks, other players in the private sector and Anambra stakeholders in general are expected to participate in the summit.
The organisers reasoned that banks are actually one of the victims of the incidence of violent crimes adding that each time robbery takes place, banks are shut and do not open for hours.
The Head of Chambers in the sponsoring law firm expressed hope that the solutions proffered in the case of security in Anambra would be useful also to other states of the South East and perhaps the turbulent South-South.
