Barely 48 hrs after President Umaru Yar’Adua proclamation of amnesty to militants in the Niger Delta now fewer than four militant commanders in Bayelsa State have openly renounced armed struggle to embrace the presidential gesture with Commander Joshua Maciver describing the move as a good omen for the troubled region.
PORT HARCOURT: A MILITANT leader Mr Solomon Ndigbara aka Osama Bin Laden Friday night surrendered his arms to the federal government as an indication of his acceptance of the amnesty to militants in the region by the government.
SIX days after he was declared wanted by the Joint Task Force (JTF) on the Niger-Delta over the disappearance of at least 16 service personnel of the Nigeria Armed Forces amongst other offences, top militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo says that even if he is captured and made to pay the ultimate sacrifice by the security outfit, the Niger-Delta crisis will continue except the Federal Government tackles the root cause of the problem, which is underdevelopment of the region.
The Police in Enugu made a breakthrough over the week when they arrested a five-man kidnap gang that specializes in kidnapping prominent businessmen and personalities within the South Eastern States for which ransoms worth several millions of naira had been paid to them. Members of the gang were intercepted at a police check point manned by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Enugu State Police Command on the Enugu – Onitsha highway Monday evening, the police said .

their arms and embrace peace, there have been different opinions on the government initiative towards bringing
lasting peace to the volatile region.
PORT HARCOURT — The foursome of Ateke Tom, Farah Dagogo, Soboma George and Ebikabowei Victor Ben (aka Boyloaf) say they would only surrender their arms after a meeting with President Shehu Musa Yar Adua where they intend to raise some grey areas bothering on the amnesty granted militants in the region.
The spate of kidnaping in Edo state has remained unabated in the past few months. About thirty persons have been kidnaped and freed in the last two months and several millions of naira was paid to their captors. Majority of the victims are bankers but because of the safety of these victims ,the matter is treated quietly.
Women! come on now? I read all you had to say. I do not disagree with you all. I am so much behind you but we must be able to tell the truth to one another.
