MANAGING Director  of Freedom Mortgage Finance Limited, Dr Tommy Ighrakpata-Peters, has commended the board of Delta State Oil Producing and Development Commission (DESOPADEC) for ensuring peace and socio-economic development in oil producing areas in the state.

He also lauded Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State for initiating DESOPADEC, saying such an initiative has facilitated development in the state, especially in the rural communities.

According to him, DESOPADEC has reduced the unemployment rate in the state.
He pointed out that unemployed youths in the state have been engaged in one productive form or the other.

Ighrakpata-Peters said:   “These youths would have otherwise taken to militancy or any other vice, but that is not the case. Thank God for DESOPADEC which has provided them credible means of livelihood, through which they now take good care of themselves and their loved ones as the case may be.”

He explained that Delta State before now, was a haven for militants, adding,  “that is now a thing of the past. Now, we have peace and security. Warri was once said to be a dangerous city but that is no longer the case. Delta State is now more secured than ever.

“Uduaghan’s administration has greatly improved on the performance of the immediate past government with the delivery of dividends of democracy to the people of the state.”

He also lauded the efforts of DESOPADEC’s chairman and secretary of the board for their efforts, which have led to a reduction of crime in the state.

“When you look around, you see development all around you. There is amazing development everywhere.”

Commercial activities are now conducted without any hindrance or fear.

“The streets are now lit and very neat. Rumours of kidnap is now a thing of the past, and things are looking better wherever you turn to. So, I call on the people of the state to support this government in order to allow Uduaghan and his men serve us much better,” he stated.
