PPA tasks FG on free education

By Peter Okhiria

The Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) has chided the Federal Government on its handling of the present ASUU crisis, saying instead of the crisis which have bedeviled the nation’s education sector, the Federal Government should introduce free education at all levels in the country.

The party said the country could afford to foot the bill of free education if it could afford to be a Father Christmas, dishing out cash grants to foreign nations.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Ben Onyechere, PPA said “it is abundantly clear that this nation can afford to enunciate free education at all levels with or without increase in oil price.

“What has kept this nation far away from being counted among viable comity of Nations is the lackadaisical  attitude of the leadership towards the welfare of its citizenry.

Development of any nation is measured by the height of happiness of the masses of that country.

The Nigerian issue has become  curiously worrisome, because rather than see obvious reason to reduce the tension, the leadership is playing high-handedness with the micro economic development and the general good of the majority of Nigerians.

“Free education at all levels will positively affect every family in this country which can trigger an immediate reduction in violent crimes as well as bring smiles on the helpless citizens of this country.  The President can resolve to do this and retire  successfully  rather than recounting the unworkable seven point agenda.

On the ASUU crisis, it said “the Government should meet the demands of ASUU so that the students can return to learning. The Government should know that the idle hand is the devil’s workshop.”

  1. PPA and their leader Orji Uzor Kalu have given a good advice. But i consider this ironical since same party has been a complete failure in the only state where they have almost total control(abia). Charity begins at home or is this saying no longer true?
Oops…forgot to say great post! Looking forward to your next one.

PPA publicity Scribe, you have made a very good proposal, but i wonder why Nigerian politicians after experiencing the poor attitude of the government towards its citizenry, as soon as you got to that ladder of leadership you tend to forget all the pains being suffered by the poor citizens over night, and fall into the same basket of corruption like your predecesors, are you sure you would make Nigeria a more better place if your party is on the lead, going by your proposals, well if they will adopt it, good and fine, but unfortunately the 7point agenda are yet to be fulfilled. Nigerians are watching Yar’dua’s administration !….
