Umuahia—GOVERNOR Theodore Orji of Abia state weekend, explained why his government dethroned two traditional rulers, saying that they were allegedly involved in kidnapping.

Governor Orji, hinted that more traditional rulers may be dethroned, as some of them are currently being investigated by the government for their alleged involvement in kidnapping.

Orji who spoke at the palace of Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu in Ohuhu, during a meeting of the traditional rulers in the clan, disclosed that some kidnapped victims from investigation, disclosed that they were allegedly kept in the palace of the affected Ezes and that they were well fed by them.

The Abia state government last week announced the withdrawal of its recognition to Eze Reuben Nworgu of Ihe-Iyi Autonomous Community in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area and Eze Emmanuel Oforji of Isi-Obehie Autonomous Community in Ukwa-West Local Government Area.

They were given seven days to return to the government, their Staff of Office and Certificate of Recognition given to them.

Government said they “constituted a clog in government’s war against insecurity in Abia state”.

Orji said that government was surprised to learn that royal fathers who ought to be custodian of peace and security in their domain, were themselves involved in crime.

He hinted that more Ezes may be dethroned,  if the current investigation by the government indicts any of them. He called on the Ohuhu traditional rulers to support his government.

He said that his administration has done a lot in Ohuhu, despite the fierce battle against him by their son,  Chief Onyema Ugochukwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
