PORT HARCOURT: A MILITANT leader Mr Solomon Ndigbara aka Osama Bin Laden Friday night surrendered his arms to the federal government as an indication of his acceptance of the amnesty to militants in the region by the government.
On hand to receive the arms on behalf of the government at Yeghe in Gokana local government area of Rivers state was the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mike Okiro.
Handing over the rifles Osama urged the government to keep faith with its word on the amnesty“The federal government should do whatever they have said they will do and we will keep to our own side of the bargain so that this thing will not come back”.
An elated Okiro later assured that the government was resolute on the issue. He called on other militants in the region to take advantage of the amnesty to surrender and turn a new leaf in the region
Weapons handed over include three AK47 rifles, three Self Loading Rifles, three pump Action Rifles, one P-Beretta and 1000 rounds of live ammunition as well as 13 cartridges.”
The ceremony was witnessed by some other top security officers in the state and community folks.
