ABUJA—GOVERNORS and elected public officers who may have been adopted ahead of the 2011 general elections by State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would have had their hopes shattered as the National Chairman, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor yesterday warned all state chairmen of the party against adopting any candidate or face the full wrath of the law.
In a statement to the state Chairmen, Ogbulafor who noted with dismay the way and manner they indiscriminately adopt State Governors and legislators as flag bearers of the Party for the 2011 elections, stressed that he was not ready henceforth, to take it lightly with any State Chairman who flaunts what he described as order.
According to him, “My attention has been drawn to your indiscriminate adoption of State Governors and legislators as flag bearers of the Party for 2011 elections.
I think Ogbulafor should not be believed. Believe him and you will believe anything. If you believe him, then, you have convinced yourself that Samuel Peters won his last fight against Klitchko.
Is he not among the people that told us that 2003 election was a do or die affair? In Lucky Dube’s “Stand for the Truth” lyrics, he sang, ‘………….. I cross my heart, and ready to die,………..this is the word we use to get out of situation……….’. Ogbulafor no doubt is watering the ground for a massive rigging come 2011. Did they not tell us the same thing before the Ekiti run-off but what did they do?
What Naija politicians do is to get us panting and clapping and then, go ahead to do what they had in mind. I have always been an admirer of the biblical Thomas, who against all odds, asked to feel where the nail pierced Jesus’ hand before he could believe. And if Thomas could doubt the Christ, the Saviour, who is Ogbulafor that any mortal should believe?
Adoption or selection, we should wait till 2011 for our egg to hatch before planning on how to harvest and make a great sales from it. 2011 will tell if Ogbulafor is a man of his word or ‘ another number in the book’ (sirah, Lucky Dube)
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ADOPTION OF CADIDATES THAT CAN DELIVER THE DEVIDENDS OF DEMOCRACY TO THE POPULACE. WAHT OGBULAFOR COULD HAVE DONE IS STAND ON WHAT THE PRESIDENT SAID ABOUT DEFLECTION OF SERVING OFFICERS WHO AFTER WINNING ELCTION WILL DUMP THEIR PARTY FOR BETTER MEAT IN PDP,
PDP STATE CHAIRMEN SHOULD ADOPT A TESTED AND SEASONED POLITICIANS WHO HAVE HUMAN SYMPATHY AND SENCE OF LOVE FOR HIS PEOPLE LIKE ALH.DR GOJE OF GOMBE STATE .AND THEN ALLOW ELECTORATE TO CHOOSE THE BEST AMONG THE ADOPTED CANDIDATES.
Adoption of popular and tested candidates for elections is democratic.
So, if State PDP Chairmen are adopting Governorship candidates for 2011 then State Congresses will determine their suitabilities and popular ity. So, why the restriction? Who is fooling who? If there will be no adoption for the Presidency then there will be no adoptions for the Governors. Leadership by example is what Nigerians need. In Akwa Ibom State we will have only Governor Godswill Akpabio as a sole aspirant/candidate, the people have spoken.
If says they should’t adopt candidates,what they ve adopting or the one they just adopted in lagos last week.
Or his he sayingu ll should 4get about sins they ve been committing since 1999.
as a matter of fact he should find something important to talk about.
so long as PDP exists in the form and calibre of its leadership, Nigeria continues to be doomed. They are full of evil, lies and deceit. It is only God that will save Nigeria from the evil men of PDP
This is a good directive but how far has the chairman gone on the adoption of the present president for 2011? It is exactly what he is doing that his counter parts in the state are doing. The chairman should stop deceiving Nigerians. The opposition should rise to fight this MONSTER called PDP.
