OSOGBO—Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola has declared that he has no preferred candidate from among the 23 Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirants for the 2011 election.
Speaking with newsmen in Osogbo yesterday during the 2009 end of the year press briefing, Governor Oyinlola allayed the fear of the people of the state and most importantly the PDP members that the selection process will be rancour free.
According to him, the same process employed in 2003 that produced him as the PDP flagbearer in the election without any ill feelings amongst the members of the party may be employed this time around.
He admitted that though the number of the gubernatorial aspirants were very large, the PDP in the state had a tradition of selecting all its candidates for any election to the admiration of everybody.
His words “I told all my lieutenants that we should all pray for somebody who has the interest of the people of the state and its development at heart to succeed me at the end of my tenure of office in 2011.â€
